The valve body directs pressurized fluid to the clutches, brakes and torque converter through a system of precision valves and solenoids. Wear, contamination or an electrical fault in this assembly is a frequent cause of incorrect pressure and shift-quality problems - but the exact cause must be confirmed by diagnostics, because similar symptoms can come from worn clutches, the pump, the converter, the electronics, software and adaptations, or the wrong fluid. Prolonged valve movement, contamination and operation with unsuitable fluid can wear the valves and their bores, causing internal hydraulic losses. On many modern transmissions the valve body, solenoids, sensors and part or all of the control module are combined into one mechatronic unit - which adds electronics to the same wear story. Many valve bodies can be professionally remanufactured, but repairability depends on the design, the degree of wear and the available repair solutions.

Remanufactured valve bodies - depending on the specific model, the process may include disassembly and cleaning, measurement and vacuum or hydraulic testing, restoration of worn bores with standard or oversized valves, replacement of the separator plate and gaskets, and testing or replacement of solenoids. The operations performed are determined after diagnosis of the specific unit.

Important: a valve body must not be ordered by vehicle model alone. Visually identical variants can use different separator plates, solenoids, software, TCM or calibration. Confirmation by transmission code, unit number and photos is mandatory.
