Oil Change / Maintenance

Keep Your Transmission Performing at Its Best Fresh, correct fluid is the single cheapest thing you can do for your automatic transmission - and the wrong fluid is one of the fastest ways to damage a healthy one. Every automatic, DSG and CVT gearbox runs its own exact specification, and modern designs are less forgiving of old or incorrect oil than ever.

At MID Auto in Varna we perform partial and machine ATF exchanges with long-standing specialist transmission experience behind every service: the official fluid approval or specification required for your unit, the filter, the level procedure done to the manufacturer’s method, and a preventative inspection that reads what the drained oil is telling us.

KEEP PERFORMING AT ITS BEST

We offer our customers two types of Automatic Transmission Fluid replacement:

Partial ATF Change

Partial ATF Change

replaces the fluid drained through the pan drain plug; typically a portion of the total volume is replaced, with the exact share depending on the design.

Full ATF Change

Machine ATF Exchange

a machine-assisted fluid exchange in which fresh fluid progressively displaces the old fluid through the cooler circuit. The actual replaced share is significantly higher than a partial change and depends on the design and the fluid volume used.

Regular ATF replacement is critical to transmission health: fresh, correct fluid means smooth shifts, proper lubrication and cooling, and a longer service life for every component - clutches, valve body and torque converter alike.

PARTIAL
ATF CHANGE

Our partial ATF change is available for all types of automatic transmissions - including factory-sealed units where a machine exchange is not possible:

  • Replaces the fluid that drains from the transmission pan - the exact share depends on the design, pan, torque converter and cooling system.

  • Ideal for regular maintenance and it is the safe staged approach for high-mileage units with unknown service history.

  • Completed within a single working day.

  • Fluid, filters and gaskets from our partner manufacturers - the same import stock behind our online store.

MACHINE
ATF EXCHANGE

For the most thorough service we offer a machine-assisted fluid exchange using specialized equipment. This method:

  • Displaces the old fluid from a significantly larger share of the system, including the torque converter volume - the part a pan drain can rarely reach.

  • Circulates fresh fluid through the system, carrying contaminants out.

  • The fluid passes through the accessible cooler circuit during the exchange. Where metal particles, restricted flow or transmission damage are present, the oil cooler and lines are inspected separately and may require specialized cleaning or replacement.

  • Correct servicing supports lubrication, cooling and hydraulic control - but it does not fix already existing mechanical wear, a damaged clutch, valve body or torque converter.

A machine exchange requires accessible cooler lines or a service port. Our technicians confirm this during a workshop inspection - some transmissions allow only the partial method.

ADDITIONAL PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE

During your ATF change we can also perform:

Filter replacement wherever the design allows - for clean circulation and protection of the new fluid.

Fluid level calibration to the manufacturer’s exact procedure - many modern units are level-checked at a specific temperature, and an inaccurate level damages transmissions as surely as old fluid.

Visual and functional inspection - pan magnet, drained fluid condition, leak points - catching wear at the stage where it could still be a service item, not a repair.

WHY REGULAR
CHANGES MATTER

Heat, friction and contamination steadily degrade transmission fluid. Skipping changes leads to:

Increased internal wear

Poor, harsh or delayed shifting

Overheating

Expensive repairs that timely servicing would have prevented - see our transmission repair service for what neglect eventually costs.

The interval is determined by the transmission code, the manufacturer’s specification, operating conditions and service history. Where the manufacturer states no practical periodic interval, MID Auto can recommend a more conservative preventive service after assessing the specific vehicle - as general workshop guidance: every 40,000-60,000 km or 2-3 years, sooner under heavy duty. Find your transmission in our catalog for the specifics of your exact unit.

FAQ

The exact interval is confirmed by transmission code and the manufacturer’s documentation - as general MID Auto guidance: every 40,000-60,000 km or 2-3 years, sooner under heavy conditions (city traffic, towing, mountain terrain). On many units the "lifetime fill" does not reflect service practice.

Delayed or harsh shifts, slipping or a burnt smell are the more significant signs. A colour change alone is not sufficient for a diagnosis - not all fluids are bright red, and some change colour in service. Metal particles, excessive friction material or visible contamination require further inspection - book a diagnostic.

A partial change drains the pan - a portion of the fluid, depending on the design. A machine exchange replaces a significantly larger share, including the torque converter volume and the cooler lines. On healthy, regularly serviced units the machine exchange is the more complete service; on neglected high-mileage units we often recommend staged partial changes instead.

No - it requires accessible cooler lines or a service port. Factory-sealed designs allow only the partial method; our technicians confirm what your unit allows during the inspection.

Yes, wherever the design allows it. Fresh fluid through an old filter is half a service, so we always recommend the filter alongside the fluid when possible.

Strictly fluids carrying the official approval or specification required for your exact unit - AT, CVT, DSG or dual-clutch. Transmission generations run genuinely different oils, and cross-filling is a documented way to damage a healthy gearbox: the specification on the label matters more than the brand on it.
