Transfer Case Parts

Parts for the transfer cases of BMW xDrive, Mercedes-Benz 4Matic, VW / Porsche / Audi, Land Rover and Jeep applications - over twenty models from the ATC, NV, PL72, DCD / DCS and VG families. Chains, clutch kits, actuator motors and gears, pumps, seals and bearings, with identification first, always.

What transmission do I have?

Identify the exact model from the unit’s label - versions are not interchangeable between generations, even within one brand.
Open your model’s page from the grid above for its full parts list.
Not sure which unit your car has? Contact our team with the VIN or a photo of the label - we will identify it.
Even if it’s not listed in our online store, we may have it in our warehouse, as a second-hand option, or we can source it quickly through our international network. Contact our team - we’ll do everything possible to get you the right component for your transfer case repair.

About Transfer Cases

The transfer case transmits torque from the transmission to the front and rear axles. The design differs by vehicle: some units use mechanically selectable part-time 4x4, others a center differential, while active AWD systems control the torque split through a multi-plate clutch tightened and released by an electric or hydraulic actuator as conditions change. That is why exact identification of the model is mandatory before choosing parts. Depending on the design, common wear points include the actuator mechanism, chain stretch, clutch pack wear, bearings, the pump and the seals - and a small volume of hard-working fluid that degrades faster than most other oils in the car. A large share of failures can be resolved at component level, provided the housing and main mechanical elements allow restoration and the parts are available - which is exactly what this category exists for.

Transfer Case Families We Support

  • BMW xDrive ATC family - ATC13, ATC300, ATC350, ATC35L, ATC400, ATC450, ATC45L, ATC500, ATC700, covering the xDrive generations of the 3 Series, 5 Series, X3, X5 and related models, plus the earlier NV125. Each model has its own parts page.
  • Mercedes-Benz - the DCD and DCS units of the 4Matic ranges and the VG150 E.
  • VW / Porsche / Audi - the NV235 of the first Touareg and Cayenne generation, and the PL72 ATC and PL72 T units of the later Touareg, Cayenne and Q7 era.
  • Land Rover - the ITC PLA integrated transfer case and the NV225.
  • New Venture NV series - NV231 / NV233, NV245 and NV263, covering Jeep and related 4x4 applications.

Common Transfer Case Issues & Solutions

  • Actuator / servo motor gear wear - a classic failure on electronically controlled units (BMW ATC, VW / Porsche and others): the motor’s gear wears and the system logs 4x4 / drivetrain errors, intermittently at first. Before replacement, verify whether the cause is only the motor or gear, or whether a worn clutch pack, mechanical binding, adaptation, wiring or the control module adds load. After repair, some systems require calibration or adaptation.
  • Chain stretch and wear - whining or clunking under load on chain-driven families; a stretched chain eventually jumps. Replaced with the unit open, together with sprocket inspection.
  • Clutch pack wear - binding in tight turns, shudder, uneven torque split on active units. Friction kits restore the clutch at component price.
  • Pump, bearing and seal wear - oil starvation and leaks are what turn a small repair into a housing replacement; a reseal during any repair is standard practice.

Our store solutions: chains, friction and clutch kits, actuator motors and gears, oil pumps, bearing and seal kits, and complete overhaul kits across all supported families - OE, OEM and selected aftermarket, depending on the unit.

Maintenance Recommendations

The exact interval and fluid specification must be confirmed by VIN, transfer case model and the vehicle manufacturer’s requirements. As preventive workshop practice, MID Auto can recommend inspection and periodic fluid changes according to the design and the way the vehicle is used - transfer case fluid works under high load and is rarely part of the standard service schedule. On a 4x4 system error or shudder, the first step is diagnosis: stored codes, fluid condition and level, actuator, adaptations and the mechanical condition of the unit.
